Good afternoon everyone and happy Wednesday to all of you! Are you someone who enjoys mind games, brain teasers or puzzles? Then Escape the Crate would be the perfect subscription for you! Escape the Crate is a bi-monthly subscription ($29.99 plus shipping) that combines both brain puzzles and the use of technology.
The escape mission that I will be sharing with you today is “Escape the Lost Colony”. It shipped out on October 3rd and November 3rd. In order to complete your mission you must visit a website that is provided to you along with the password for entry in to the website. You may set a time limit (although my family and I did not follow one, as this was our first mission and we had no prior experience). Without revealing any secrets to the mission, I can only express how fun and creative this was! Inside of the box, you’re given envelopes filled with different puzzles and clues that you must solve in order to move on to the next. These envelopes tie in with the website, as you must follow the mission through the website and voice over in order to move forward to your next envelope. I will say, this particular mission (Escape the Lost Colony) was an absolute treat! The mystery of the history has always fascinated me, so I was so pleased to be able to work with it. I have to mention that it is a bit difficult. It helps to have a larger group of people, as you can all work together but think separately with different perspectives in order to solve the puzzles. It took us a whole 2 hours to complete (again, this was our first time playing), but it definitely makes you think and you have a feeling of accomplishment once you’ve completed the puzzle. Would I recommend this? Absolutely! It’s a wonderful way to get the family together and away from distractions, in order to spend time with one another. I would honestly consider this a bonding experience full of family fun! Escape the Crate is a bi-monthly subscription, but you can still purchase previous boxes individually for $39.99 (plus shipping). The missions all connect to one another (as in previous missions connect with the next mission, etc. Although, you may also play a single mission without having completed prior missions). A lot of schools are actually starting to use Escape the Crate in their history classes, so you are also able to purchase Educational Escapes for a one-time cost. Overall, I was thoroughly pleased with Escape the Lost Colony! It was fun, educational and interesting. I think this would make a perfect gift for Christmas time, or possibly for purchase and play at your holiday party! It’s a great way to get people together. Until Next Time, xo
